World’s largest reed bed water treatment facility uses KROHNE for Custody Transfer accuracy
To support sustainable and efficient treatment of contaminated produced water from an oil field in Oman, BAUER Nimr fully transformed its wastewater plant using a large-scale reed bed system. The plant treats up to 175,000 m³/day of brackish water with high total dissolved solids (TDS ~8,000 mg/l) and oil content over 400 mg/l.
KROHNE’s Role:
To ensure precise billing and accountability, BAUER Nimr required a flow metering system compliant with OIML R49 custody transfer standards. KROHNE engineered and delivered a turnkey Z-type metering skid featuring:
Two OPTIFLUX 2300 electromagnetic flowmeters (24", Class 300#)
Skid fully pre-assembled with ball valves, phenolic-lined piping, and Inconel valves for corrosion resistance in high-salinity conditions
SUMMIT 8800 flow computer for custody transfer calculations
Dual-channel configuration for uninterrupted operation and simplified service
SynEnergy software for real-time web-based monitoring and reporting
